Community groups

Our model

Potter’s House Community Church exists to help people be shaped by God to be followers of Jesus Christ.  For our church to be effective in accomplishing this mission we need to be organized into smaller groups who function to help carry out this mission.  We know that a key component to loving one another as we are told to do in scripture (John 13:35), is that we have fun together.  We also know that being shaped by God into followers of Jesus Christ involves study and learning together.  Finally, we know that we cannot truly be following Jesus if we are not serving others.  So, our community groups have a monthly rotation of play-study-serve-study.  So, the first week of the month, the group will meet together for the primary purpose of having fun together so that our love for one another can grow.  The second and forth weeks of the month the group will study together.  The third week of the month the group will engage together in a service opportunity that glorifies God.  All weeks will be a vehicle for connection with one another and praying for one another.  The goal is to truly do life in community with one another.

By using this four-week rotation, we feel that we will accomplish with community groups what we want to accomplish.  The goal is not to offer another bible study or fun club.  The goal is for our community groups to be a vehicle for genuine biblical community to happen.  Our groups by design are missional.  We want everyone in the group to grow in being shaped by God and we want every group to be constantly looking to invite others to join.  As groups get large we launch new groups with the same mission and purpose.
